The greatest invitation ever extended to us is issued by Jesus as we read in His Good News, the gospel. It is an open appeal to all who hear His voice beckoning them to come to Him. This call from Jesus can be found many times as He spoke to crowds during His three-year public ministry. His call to “come” and commit all to Him resonates throughout the New Testament.
Among these many calls or summons, the most frequently issued was the one to FOLLOW HIM. Thirteen times in the four gospels we read these exact words “FOLLOW ME”. This is exactly what Jesus’ message is to the crowd following Him that day, when he says, “come after Me” he is saying “FOLLOW ME”.
