Dear Friends,
Crossroads Christian Fellowship is a group of believers that come together
in community to worship, fellowship, and serve God! We are English-speakers
primarily from the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Some of us live here
year round; others only part-time. Some of us live in houses and
apartments; others on boats in the marinas and out in the bay. Some of
us are actively employed; others retired. And, we come from all types of
Evangelical backgrounds: Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, Independent,
Pentecostal, Assembly of God, and others.
Pastor Alejandro Varela, who back in 2000 was the pastor of the
First Baptist Church of La Paz, invited missionaries David and Joyce Reed to help
start an English ministry here in the city. The church is organic in that it
tends to grow and shrink depending on the season of the year. Summer heat seems
to drive visitors away and typically the numbers surge in the winters as snowbirds
and boaters arrive. At this point we have been averaging between 25 and 50 people.
We want to extend to you a warm welcome to join us on Sunday mornings for an informal
gathering English worship including choruses with a few hymns mixed in at times. The
preaching is delivered in English by various members of the leadership team, and
singing is a combination of both languages, though mostly English. A special part
of Crossroad includes a somewhat extended community time of prayer and sharing where
all are welcome to participate in Spanish or English.
We realize one can sometimes feel uncomfortable visiting a new church, especially
in a different city or country. We hope you will feel welcomed to our casual
informal services which start at 9:00 am. Come early and enjoy some coffee served
on the patio. You can take it into the service if you like. You might find many of
us in shorts and sandals.
We wholeheartedly believe in, and try to teach the Gospel message that God came
to save sinners; that God’s grace covers us; and that he wants us to repent, serve
him, and tell others about His love and message of salvation. We try to express
God’s love to one another in word and action; and we aim to preach the Word with
integrity- holding true to the Scriptures; believing that the Bible is infallible
and inerrant. Though we are an inter-denominational church we tend to practice a
form of Christianity that leans more towards a Baptist or an inter-denominational
expression of faith.
We recognize the Lordship of Christ, believing that Crossroads is not just a
place to socialize, but rather to worship and grow in obedience to Jesus’ instructions
and teachings found in the Bible. Our desire is to honor God with our lives both on Sundays
and throughout the week. There are various ministries that one can participate in
throughout the week and month; one being a horse ministry to special needs children.
There are other meetings during the week if you want to attend at another time.
Blessings in Christ,
